Telecity Group Ltd – Access Flooring Case Study

Fieldmans have recently successfully completed access flooring work on the first phase (of a possible 5) at Telecity in Acton.

TelecityGroup provides data centre and co-location services to financial services companies, cloud service operators and content companies.

The European carrier-neutral data centre and co-location provider specialises in the design, build and management of highly connected, resilient and secure environments in which customers can house their telecoms, internet and IT infrastructure

Located in the Powergate Business Park, the converted distribution warehouse (gross size of data centre 26,345m²) has a net customer space of 10,000m². Spread across 2 data floors there are 12 IT zones with a raised access flooring to ceiling height of 3m. Powered by 2 independent substations it has a total incoming feed capacity of 60 MVA and has a diverse power route.

The main data halls used the Kingspan FDEB 38 raised access flooring system utilising heavy grade stringers. The LV Substations and the UPS area called for greater loadings ergo an Extra Heavy FDEB 38 system was required – pioneering the use of extra heavy stringers and reinforced Alpha III access flooring pedestals specially adapted to accept a minimum load of 8 tonnes, all of the heavy plant materials have since been delivered and successfully taken across the floor (15x 8 tonne).

We also used the FDEB 38 on the adjoining corridors and for the office spaces on both the ground and first floors we utilised the ever popular Kingspan RMG 600 access flooring system.
