Chelsea Football Club moved to its new multi-million pound training facility in mid-2007. The Cobham-based facility is truly state-of-the-art and the main building features the latest in training, rehabilitation, medical, pitch and media technology. It even has biometric finger print recognition technology for entrance to the players’ area.
As one of the leading sports centres in the world, Chelsea FC required all work to be completed only to the highest standard. As such, Fieldmans Access Floors were selected to supply and install access flooring in the training facility, including the stylish high-tech gym (pictured).
The new training facility forms part of Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich’s plan to develop quality home grown talent. Chelsea Chief Executive Peter Kenyon said, “We are also totally committed to expanding our community programme in the local area”. Therefore it was important for the club to use contractors supporting local labour – many of Fieldmans’ staff are based in Battersea and Wandsworth (and as such are Chelsea supporters also!)
The local Major, Councillor Rosemary Dane, spoke at the training grounds official opening praising the construction of the facility, “this project has addressed environmental issues sensitively… they have built a beautiful centre to be proud of.” Environmental impacts are carefully considered by Fieldmans through any project and our excellent achievements in this area were important for Chelsea FC and helped us win this impressive contract.
