Fieldmans completed the access flooring works to the International Broadcast Centre at the Olympic Park Media Centre in Stratford.
‘The International Broadcast Centre/Main Press Centre (IBC/MPC) will be a 24-hour media hub for around 20,000 broadcasters, photographers and journalists – bringing the Games to an estimated four billion people worldwide. It has been designed to be as flexible as possible to accommodate a range of potential tenants and uses after the Games. ’
We have been on site for over a year with a presence of up to thirty operatives at one stage working day and night all of whom were direct labour (registered first aiders and fire marshals were also employed) and under full time supervision. All of our operatives are registered with the B & CE Benefits Scheme.
Works to Main Press Centre were spread across the Ground, First, Third, Lower Ground, Reception (MPCR) and the temporary block (MPCT) requiring the installation of both Medium duty and Heavy grade access flooring. In addition to these systems we fitted full access flooring systems in all toilet pods areas to cores 1, 2, 3 & 4.
As well as the main works we installed raised access flooring to the bridge link, there was some gradient to the slab and so pedestals were adjusted accordingly to ensure the finished access flooring was laid level.
Acoustic barriers were installed around the perimeters of each floor.
Fieldmans were employed to bring the International Broadcast Centre up to PSA/MOB/PF2 standards, converting the BSEN system previously installed by others; works were to the ground and first floors and included the taking up and replacing of access flooring panels and the installation of collars to the pedestals.
