With 2018 slowly coming to a close our team at Fieldmans Access Floors has been taking stock. We have had a good year and it is all down to our fantastic clients and amazing team across the board who have helped make it such a success. To top off the year, we are very proud to announce that we are the Silver Award winners of this year’s National Company and Suppliers Awards, administered by the Considerate Constructors Scheme. While this is important to us, it is important to our clients too and if you’ll indulge us this month, we will tell you why…
The Considerate Constructors Scheme
The construction sector used to have a bit of a bad reputation. The Considerate Constructors Scheme, or CCS as it is known within the industry, was set up in 1977 to improve that image. Since then, more and more organisations have joined the scheme – which is voluntary – to demonstrate to their clients, staff, and the general public that they are professional about what they do and that they will abide by the organisation’s Code of Considerate Practice. This is focused around five main areas:
- Appearance. Companies ensure that sites are managed well and look professional
- Respecting the community. Constructors must demonstrate that they are considerate towards their site neighbours and general public
- Protecting the environment. Protecting and enhancing the environment are key elements of the Code
- Safety. A crucial element of the Code, registrants must show that they meet the highest safety standards
- Staff. A supportive working environment shows that the workforce is valued and an important part of a company’s success
By being registered with the CCS we demonstrate to our staff and clients that we strive to meet and exceed the Code’s requirements. In this way we set the basis for our professional credentials as a safe and considerate contractor.
The National Company and Suppliers Awards
The Awards were set up to recognise those organisations that have gone above and beyond expectations and have shown that they have met the highest standards with regard to their impact on local communities, staff, and the environment.
To qualify for entry into the awards companies must have been members of the CCS for over a year. A company’s performance is then analysed by using an average score of all the monitoring visit scores they have had over the period of a year, from August to July. In this way, clients can see that performance has to be consistently high in order to even qualify, let alone win this prestigious award.
At Fieldmans we are delighted to have been recognised for three years running by the National Company and Suppliers Awards. This is our second silver award – the first was in 2015 – and our fifth award overall since 2011.
