Kingspan Access Flooring Systems

Kingspan is one of the largest manufacturers of access flooring systems in both the UK and the United States. They have lead the access flooring industry in developing tough, durable flooring ready for many conditions.

Fieldmans Access Floors are proud to use Kingspan as a preferred supplier.

No other company is as dedicated to the research and development of raised access floors as is Kingspan. Many of the technological breakthroughs of the last 20 years in raised access flooring took place because of this company. Today’s access panels, for example, are more lightweight yet sturdier than their predecessors. They also come in a greater variety of finishes, again due in large part to the work of Kingspan.

Kingspan access flooring has also been accredited with a Forest Stewardship Council (FCS) chain of custody award. This means that Kingspan access flooring products comply with the highest social and environmental standards on the market and are providing a credible solution to complex environmental and social issues.

Fieldmans can provide Kingspan raised access flooring and install them using Kingspan’s Alpha range of pedestals. These are independently tested and approved by the UK’s leading independent UKAS accredited laboratory; BTL. Fieldmans use two main models of the Alpha range pedestals: Alpha V and Alpha III.

The Alpha V Pedestal
1. Alpha-V-Pedestal(2)This all-steel pedestal fully complies with the heavy grade requirements of the PSA MOB PF2 PS/SPU specification and is used for finished floor heights from 50mm to 600mm. The pedestal design utilises a 90mm diameter head which allows the use of standard plastic head caps. The baseplate is 100 mm square and includes provision for the use of mechanical fixing to the sub-floor in addition to the use of pedestal adhesive if required. The pedestal head design allows for the use of snap-in and bolt-on stringers if required.

The Alpha III Pedestal
2. Alpha-III-Pedestal(1)This all steel pedestal fully complies with the heavy grade requirements of the PSA MOB PF2 PS/SPU specification and is used for finished floor heights from 600mm to 1200mm. The pedestal design utilises a 90mm diameter head which allows the use of standard plastic head caps. The baseplate is 120 mm square and includes provision for the use of mechanical fixing to the sub-floor in addition to the use of pedestal adhesive if required. The Kingspan Building Technology Platform
3. technology_platformKingspan is one of the largest manufacturers of access flooring systems in both the UK and the United States. They have lead the access flooring industry in developing tough, durable flooring ready for many conditions. One of their many products is the Kingspan Building Technology Platform, under-floor HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning), cable management system.

This system is a great way for channelling cables around a building, hidden from view behind floor tiles. This small investment could save money in many ways, from property investors and development firms, to occupiers and tenants, along with personal benefits. The Kingspan Building Technology Platform can reduce the initial capital costs by up to 4%, reduce HVAC mechanical costs by up to 18%, and is ‘future proof’ as the space can adapt to any technology changes and occupier need.

The Kingspan Building Technology Platform can also facilitate rapid office space reconfiguration and can save up to:

  • 50% office churn costs
  • 38% in energy use
  • 44% in running costs
  • 63% in cooling energy consumption
  • 35% in heating energy consumption

Along with this, the Kingspan Technology Platform provides individual temperature control through thermostat or manual control diffusers. This solution can also improve air quality and reduces employee absenteeism, and could also improve productivity through an advanced working environment. The solution also reduces the risk of Sick Building Syndrome (SBS).

Fieldmans can accommodate any variety of finishes for access flooring using Kingspan products, including floor carpet tiles, laminates and natural material finishes. Typically the majority of offices require anti-static carpet tiles in general office and corridor areas, whereas natural finishes maybe used within public/lobby areas

The use of natural materials promotes a prestigious image and interior environment which many occupiers and tenants demand.

Kingspan Access Floors has a wide range of high quality, unique Natural Finishes allowing creative flooring freedom, including:

  • Decorative granite, marble and natural stone finished access floor panels
  • Decorative overlay granite, marble and natural stone panels to allow the application of these finishes to an existing access floor installation

Kingspan D-Lock Access Flooring
5. dlock2The Kingspan D-Lock access flooring system incorporates a unique lock down system, allowing a minimum number of fixings to be used. The system allows for maximum rigidity and stability throughout the access floor solution, working to the BSEN 12825 standard. The D-Lock floor panel range essentially provides a cost effective solution to providing a solid platform, with all of the key attributes required from an access flooring system.

Benefits of the Kingspan D-Lock access flooring panels include a light weight construction, making lifting easier.
The system is also solid underfoot with no creaking or rocking, unauthorised entry to the sub floor is also deterred with the lock down feature. The access flooring panels are fully accessible and interchangeable, each with chamfered panel edges allowing for easy lifting and replacement.

The D-Lock access flooring panels are based on a 600mm square panel, constructed around a high performance chipboard core. A precise machining process is used to provide a corner lock down facility on the panel.

A clamping washer and screw are used to lock down corners, eliminating panel’s movement and limiting unauthorised access to the floor void. The pedestal head cap includes a plastic moulding that provides a stable seat for the panel, whilst also including the mechanism for the lock down screw.

All of these features mean the Kingspan D-Lock access flooring is ideally suited to general office areas, with light and medium use.

The panels are available in two thicknesses, 30mm and 38mm, to offer varying load bearing support. The 30mm system can support an ultimate load in excess of 6kN, while the 38mm system can bear a load in excess of 6kN.

Finished floor heights of between 73mm and 380mm are available, using a standard Kingspan access flooring pedestal range. Alternatives are available for heights outside this range.

TL Series Access Floors Panel by Kingspan
6. tl-series-panelKingspan Access Floors has launched the TL Series, a new access floors system based on a 26mm steel encased panel without a perimeter flange. This greatly reduces the possibility of edge damage during handling.

The new TL Series access floors consist of the TL3 and TL5 systems. Both types of panels are tested to surpass the requirements of BSEN 12825 Class 3 or Class 5 respectively, and the TLM26, which has been independently tested in accordance with the PSA specification to Medium Grade

The TL Series access floors are available with the established Kingspan under structure consisting of either the Alpha 5 or Euro pedestals, dependent upon the performance requirements of the chosen specification.

This panel system will be of special interest to the refurbishment sector as its ultra slim design makes it perfect for projects where there may be a floor to ceiling height restriction, enabling an access floor to be installed with the absolute minimum total system height.
